Phage treatment can be effective against diseases caused by antibiotic resistant bacteria, where antibiotics have failed. Many patients who were facing life-threatening bacterial infections have been successfully treated. In some cases, a combination of antibiotics and bacteriophages is used.
We offer diagnostic services to identify the pathogen that is causing the infection, determine its phage susceptibility; selection and preparation of specific autophages to target the pathogen as required and phage treatment.
Not all infections respond well or at all to bacteriophage treatment. Factors depend on the overall health of the patient, the type of bacteria, the severity of the infection, and any complicating factors. In all cases, it is necessary that the medical history of the patient and a bacterial sample be made available prior to treatment so that the scientists and physicians can evaluate whether an effective phage is available and whether phage treatment is possible. That is why it is important to acquire as much information from patients as possible to assess individuals and raise the likelihood of success of the treatment.
